Two-time Academy Award winning actress Dianne Wiest is set to star in Mayor Of Kingstown the co-created Prison drama from Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, who will also executive produce.
Wiest will play Miriam, the matriarch of the McLusky and mother of Mike McLusky, set to be played by Jeremy Renner the series’ title character, and Mayor of Kingstown.
Miriam teaches at the Women’s Prison in Kingstown Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
Winning Oscars for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets over Broadway the actress is also known for her roles in Lost Boys, The Birdcage and most recently Clint Eastwood’s film The Mule.
Mayor of Kingstown will also be executive produced by Jeremy Renner, Antione Fuqua, David Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and Michael Friedman. MTV Entertainment Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions and 101 Studios will produce.
